Resolution was passed that farmers cannot lose their fertile land which will deprive them of their livelihood
Guntur: The Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) of Rayapudi in Tulluru mandal passed a resolution refusing to give lands for new capital. The meeting of PACS was held on Wednesday in Rayapudi headed with its president, M. Harindranath Chowdary, in chair and farmers of the village participated in the meeting. They unanimously passed resolution that farmers cannot lose their fertile lands for new capital which will deprive them of their livelihood.
Mr Harindranath said that PACS resolution will be sent to revenue and other officials and to the state government. Meanwhile, prote-sts of farmers against the take over of fertile agriculture land for new capital continued in Tulluru mandal.
Farmers gheraoed local MLA, T. Sravan Kumar for some time during Janma Bhoomi programme on Wednesday. When the meeting started, farmers objected the takeover of lands and alleged that Mr Sravan Kumar never tried to listen their land-related woes. They questioned how they can live with a meagre Rs25,000 payout per year losing Rs2 lakh per annum income.
They demanded land issue be discussed first in the meeting. Responding to their demand, Mr Sravan Kumar said that he was trying to take farmers’ issues to the notice of the state government and said the farmers can take their objections to the notice of Cabinet sub-committee during its visit in the villages soon. He added that this was not the right platform for raising capital land issue and appealed to the farmers to cooperate for the Janma Bhoomi programme.
