National festival status for Rotteala Panduga sought
More than 10 lakh devotees from all faiths visit Dargah every year during Rottela Panuga
Nellore: Efforts are on to get national festival status for Rottela Panduga to create amenities on permanent basis at Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore. More than 10 lakh devotees from all faiths from various parts of the country and neighbouring countries visit Dargah every year during Rottela Panuga.
In this backdrop, Nellore Mayor Abdul Azeez urged the Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu and municipal administration minister Dr P. Narayana to put their efforts to get national festival status for Rottela Panduga.Reacting to the plea, Dr Narayana assured to take up the issue with the union minister Venkaiah Naidu.
Speaking to reporters Dr Narayana said they would develop the Dargah with an action plan in next five years.Meanwhile large number of devotees turned up to Bara Shaheed Dargah on the second of Rottela Panduga on Wednesday. The pilgrim influx was three times more than Tuesday.
Job (Udyoga) roti seems to be in demand going by enquiries for the roti at the banks of Nellore tank where the devotees exchange rotis. Unlike in the previous years, civic body officials paid utmost attention to maintain hygienic conditions in the banks of Nellore tank where the devotees exchange rotis.
