KOZHIKODE: The much touted national campaign ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’ underlines the need for clean water, well maintained sanitation and hygiene facilities in every school in the country. But even before the ‘Swach Bharat’ drive, CBSE schools in the Malabar region had begun the process of ensuring that none of its schools lack basic infrastructure including toilets, essential furniture and other basic amenities.
According to Kerala Sahodaya School Complex General Secretary N Ramachandran Nair, Sahodaya complex has more than 70 CBSE schools under its aegis in Kozhikode District. Of these, nearly 90 percent of the schools have infrastructural facilities as spelled out by the Central Government.
“We have been making sure that our students are given the best facilities in the school. Hence we check into the water, sanitation and hygiene in schools to make sure these are maintained properly. It will not only improve the health of the students, but will also improve the curriculum and teaching methods while promoting hygiene practices and community ownership of water and sanitation facilities within schools”, he said.

“The CBSE schools in Malabar region attract more students by providing them all the facilities required”, said Sahodaya Malappuram chapter General Secretary M Abdul Nazar. In terms of infrastructural facilities, no schools can beat the facilities of CBSE schools. Malappuram Sahodaya has 102 CBSE schools, all of which stress on a safe and hygienic atmosphere for the students.
