Techies welcome CM’s invitation to Bengaluru firms to set shop in AP
Vijayawada: The IT sector in Vijayawada has welcomed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s initiative to invite IT industrialists of Bengaluru to AP by promising subsidies. IT professionals and industries feel that the positive atmosphere will spur tremendous growth in the sector in Vijayawada city. Software Technology Park of India director C.V.R. Ramprasad said that plans are afoot to begin construction of Vincity, an IT Tower that will have 50,000 sq ft of office space, in Vijayawada.
He said that at present, 20 start-up companies were using the existing incubation centres of STPI. “The STPI is already providing ready to use infrastructure at Kakinada, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Warangal. Plans for Vincity has been submitted to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and construction will start immediately after we receive the permission,” Mr Ramprasad said.
He said the STPI directorate is located in Hyderabad and the sub-centres are functioning in 53 cities across the country.Welcoming the initiative of Chief Minister, Krishnaveni IT Association convener D. Ramakrishna said that it was the right time to market Vijayawada. He said they started showcasing Vijayawada city for IT development 10 years ago. “The Chief Minister’s approach of inviting IT companies to the state by promising subsidies is right. I am sure it will fetch positive results,” said Mr Ramakrishna.
Stating that air connectivity from Vijayawada city should be improved, he stressed on the need for an international airport. “When there is good air connectivity, it will draw more IT companies to set up their branches in Vijayawada city,” he said.Several start up companies had started functioning in various areas of the city in the past two years. Vijayawada, with its skilled manpower and low cost of living, is drawing the IT companies like a magnet.
