Dynamic Indian award presented
The Dynamic Indian of the Decade Award was presented to Dr Giridhar and Prof Dr Bipin Batra
Coimbatore: The Dynamic Indian of the Decade Award was presented to the director general of Association of Healthcare Providers India, Dr Giridhar J. Gyani, and Prof Dr Bipin Batra, executive director, National Board of Examinations, by K.G. Hospital.
The award has been presented based on Dr Gyani’s contribution to improve the standards of the country as secretary general of quality council of India. ‘Made in Japan’ was always construed ‘quality’, as opposed to ‘made in India’, 20 years ago.
Quality enhances the image of the product, durability and reliability of the product. It also increases sales and profitability and this has been made possible by Dr Gyani.
The health of the country depends on the quality of doctors produced. Medical Council of India and National Board of Examinations – both for medical graduates - have been responsible for quality of medical education in India.
While there is only one system of medical education affiliated to the universities and Medical Council of India for a long number of years, a couple of decades ago, the National Board of Examinations started the second stream of postgraduate medical education to benefit doctors who could not get seats for any MD, MS, DM, M.Ch. or postgraduate medical education.
About 600 institutions, both private and government medical institutions, have been recognised for conducting such DNB programmes in 65 specialities. Diploma degree given by National Board of Examinations is equal to FRCS and FRCP and is on a par with MS and MD degrees.
The National Board of Examinations has been headed by Prof Batra for several years. The personality of the decade and dynamic Indian of the millennium awards have been given so far to 40 persons, including Dr Christiaan Barnard, famous heart surgeon, South Africa, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr P.C. Reddy, chairman of Apollo Hospitals.
