AU professor arrested for supplying explosives to Maoists
Visakhapatnam: J Apparao, an associate professor in Telugu Department of Andhra University was arrested by Vizag rural police on Wednesday night for supplying explosive material to CPI Maoists and for allegedly having connections with the left wing extremists for past few years.
Apparao, native of Korrapalle area under G Madugula mandal in Vizag, is a tribal activist. He, along with his family, has been staying at Andhra University’s quarters in the city. Before the case surfaced, his family members suspected that he was kidnapped by a group of people.
Superintendent of Police, Koyya Praveen, confirmed that Apparao was arrested following the intelligence reports that he had been supplying explosive material to the ultras.
The police has mentioned that they would disclose more details about the case soon.
