GIS set to increase property tax
According to municipal commissioner GIS survey has been conducted in four divisions
ONGOLE: The Ongole Municipal Corporation will conduct a survey through geographical information system (GIS) in all the divisions in the municipal corporation to identify the houses on which additional floors have been constructed with the permission but not paying property tax. The consultancy appointed by the corporation will carry out a survey and submit a report to the municipal corporation. Based on the report, the corporation will issue notices to house owners for collection of property tax dues.
The OMC will get at least '1 crore additional revenue taxes collected through this process. Municipal corporation commissioner Ch.Vijaya Lakshmi said, “So far, the consulting agency conducted a survey in four divisions in the city on a pilot basis and identified some houses.
After verification, the revenue officials will issue notices to the house owners for tax dues. We will get at least Rs 50 lakh additional income in four divisions. I have directed the consultancy to conduct survey in all the divisions in the city. If this is completed,we will get at '1 crore additional revenue through property tax.”
