BJP demands Kimmane Rathnakar’s resignation
Bengaluru: State BJP leaders have demanded the resignation of Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar for allegedly shielding the accused in the suspicious death of a minor girl in Tirthahalli in Shivamogga district.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Aynoor Manjunath and MLC Banuprakash urged Chief Minister Siddarmaiah to remove Mr Rathnakar for failing to take action against the accused, who allegedly tried to rape the schoolgirl.
“Just to protect his vote bank, Mr Rathnakar is trying to shield the accused, who belong to a minority community. Instead of calming the agitated people of Tirthahalli, Mr Rathnakar is trying to politicise the issue,” Mr Manjunath alleged.
“The Education Minister has become insensitive to the issue. Instead of protecting children, he is giving irresponsible statement against the BJP,” he said.
The police have not registered a case of kidnapping and the taluk hospital has not given the discharge summary. It indicates that the government is trying to hush up the incident, they said.
