T Harish Rao exposes Telugu Desam again
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has once again alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister warned another private power producer not to provide power to Telangana.
The son of the noted industrialist, reportedly met irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and explained the pressure being mounted on him.
“The power producer, who is the son of a noted industrialist, met me and told me about the threats by Chandrababu Naidu. Mr Naidu issued a fiat to him that he can supply power to any state, but not to Telangana. It shows how Mr Naidu is hell-bent on hurting Telangana,” Mr Harish Rao told this newspaper.
This is the second allegation in the ongoing power war between the Telangana state government and Andhra Pradesh. “I don’t want to reveal his name, but I told the power producer living in Hyderabad having several business interests that he should not succumb to Mr Naidu’s pressure and supply power to Telangana as he would to any other buyer.
Mr Naidu is using every opportunity to create trouble for Telangana,” Mr Harish Rao said. A few days back, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, quoting a Hinduja senior honcho, said AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had threatened the private power producer not to give power to Telangana.
Mr Harish Rao will meet Union water resources minister Uma Bharati in New Delhi on Monday to explain the factual position on the Srisailam power generation issue and appeal against the directive of Krishna River Management Board.
Union minister for water resources is the appellate authority over the board. The board had directed Telangana to use only 3TMC ft of water for power generation up to November 2.
“Krishna Board has done injustice to Telangana. The decision will destroy crops in Telangana due to shortage of power. Andhra is misleading the Board and the Centre. We will put forth the right facts. Telangana has the right to generate power,” he said.
The Telangana government is planning to move the Supreme Court against the Andhra Pradesh government for denying it its share of power from the Krishnapatnam power project.
“We have to get 54 per cent share in the power. The AP government is deliberately delaying power generation in Krishnapatnam to hurt the interest of Telangana state,” he added. While in New Delhi Harish Rao will oversee both issues.
