It’s easy to construct a hurdle for motorists
Bengaluru: It connects Koramangala to Bannerghatta road, hence it witnesses a huge flow of traffic and the construction debris is dumped on almost every lane causing traffic jams. In fact, the footpaths are also blocked with construction debris.
As you take a stroll in Tavarekere, you will realize that a majority of the lanes are occupied by piles of debris and bricks. Ramesh B, a resident says, “Roads are for vehicles to ply and footpaths are for the pedestrians to walk.
People need to understand that roads and footpaths are not there for dumping construction materials.” Voicing a similar opinion Leena P, a housewife says, “We have seen motorists skidding at night as they are unaware of the amount of sand that is spread over.”
Another resident Kartik Raj says, “First of all, the roads are narrow and when construction material is dumped on the road it aggravates the situation. This leaves hardly any space for four-wheelers to pass.”
He further adds, “In every lane there is some construction going on. With more apartments and houses coming up, this trend is only going to increase unless the civic authorities decide to intervene.”
A traffic constable manning the traffic says, “People do not realize the dangers these materials can cause to young children and senior citizens. It is the responsibility of zonal officers to keep a tab on such activities in their jurisdiction.”
The scenario is no different in other areas and Koramangala, Jayanagar and Bannerghatta Road are a some of them.
Sanchita Das, a resident of Bannerghatta Road says, “A lot of construction is going on in this locality now and there is no one to inspect the activity. Hence, common people end up suffering.”
