Andhra Pradesh debt burden increasing every month
Hyderabad: The AP government has been unsuccessful in putting the state on the development track in the last six months. In the last six months, the state’s planned and non-planned expenditure, put together, comes to Rs 48,043 crore. But capital (assets) expenses accounted for only Rs 3,000 crore.
The government has borrowed Rs 9,000 crore in the last six months. The state government’s debt burden is increasing, but assets are not being created, say reliable sources.
Of the Rs 33,422 crore spent over the last six months, Rs 20,246 crore were revenue expenses Rs 13,176 crore were establishment expenses. In the planned budget AP government has spent Rs 14,621 crore, of that Rs 9,065 crore is revenue expenditure and Rs 5,546 crore is establishment expenditure. But the capital expenditure was around Rs 3,000 crore.
According to the AP finance department, the income from excise, forest, and revenue departments was less in the last six months when compared to the same period in the previous year, even though overall income was more in the first six months compared to last year’s income in the first six months. The state’s debt burden is increasing every month and assets equal to the amount are not being created.
