2 more villages to pool land
Guntur: The government is planning to include Venkatapalem and Inavolu villages for land pooling for the new capital, thereby increasing the number of villages to 19.
Agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao said the government is planning to include the two villages. He said the government would take land from other villages if local farmers volunteered to give land.
The district administration has appointed nine committees with revenue officials to collect information on the 17 villages where the capital will be established. The committees have already collected the Adangal land records. Data on the caste-wise population is being enumerated.
The revenue department says that 32,977 acre is available in 17 villages, of which 28,000 acres are patta land and 1,600 acres are assigned land. Another 478 acres belong to the endowment department, 189 acres to the forest department, 65 acres to the Wakf Board. There are hills on 180 acres and ponds cover 1,570 acres of land.
