Hyderabad: A debutant actress was allegedly molested by a small time film director. The actress of the new low budget Telugu film 24 By Love approached the police alleging that the director V.S. Phani, molested her and asked for sexual favours. Jubilee Hills police booked a case.
Police said that movie director Phani came in contact with the actress a few years ago and worked with her in 24 By Love which has not yet been released.
The victim told the police that he had been taking advantage of his position and was sexually exploiting her. He also professed love for her and asked her for sexual favours several times.
“The victim said that on Sunday Phani went to her residence in Rahmath Nagar and called her. As she came out he caught hold of her hands and started molesting her. When she tried to resist he hit her too,” said sub inspector Guruswami.
When the woman raised an alarm locals came out and he fled the area.
Later, the actress approached the police and lodged a complaint.
The police said that they have booked a case against the film director under Section 354 of IPC for assaulting a woman with criminal intent to outrage her modesty.
The film 24 By Love has finished shooting and the music launch was held recently. It is a low budget film and is yet to be released.
