Model farmer abolition GO details sought
Hyderabad: Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court has directed the petitioners to furnish the documents to show that the AP government has abolished the Adarsha Rythu (model farmer) system in the state.
The judge was dealing with a petition by K. Krishnamurthy and three other model farmers of Kurnool district challenging a GO issued by the government on September 19 to abolish the Adarsha Rythu system.
While hearing the case, the judge noticed that certain relevant documents were not placed by the petitioners and asked them to place full particulars, including the previous GOs pertaining to the model farmers and their appointment.
The petitioners urged the court to declare the decision of the state government as illegal and arbitrary and to set aside the order in the interest of the farming community. The judge posted the case to November 10.
