Hyderabad: “If they attack us with bricks we will reply wi-th stones,” said minister for IT and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao.
He was responding to the Opposition criticism of the government on various issues, including the power crisis, failure to pay exgratia to all Telangana martyrs and farmers' suicides, among others.
“We will certainly accept constructive criticism and suggestions. We are ready to answer all queries. Ultimately we are answerable to the people. But if the Opposition parties just want to blame the government for their own mistakes, we will certainly hit back. Despite facing several problems, the government is going ahead,” Mr Rama Rao.
Hitting out at the Con-gress and Telugu Desam for shedding crocodile tears for Telangana martyrs and blaming the TRS government for the power crisis, he said the Opposition stance was like devil reading scriptures.
“They are responsible for the deaths of Telangana martyrs yet they shed crocodile tears. They ignored the power sector during their rule, now they blame the TRS government,” he said.
Mr Rama Rao and other party leaders visited the Assembly to oversee arrangements for the Budget Session that begins on November 5. He said the first Budget of the TRS government would make the people proud and the government would do its best to fulfil their aspirations.
“The government will spell its priorities for the next five year period. The people of Telangana expect their lives to improve in the new state. People have high expectations since the movement leader is their CM,” he said.
The minister asserted that the government would positively respond to the demands of the public. Responding to questions on Krishna Water Board directions to the Telangana government on the power generation, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao were holding review meetings and were seized of the matter.
“Despite facing severe problems, the government is moving ahead,” he said. The first Budget Session will lay the road map for next five years and instill confidence in the people. We will spell out priorities and ensure improvement in the lives of people,” he added.
