CM N Chandrababu Naidu flays Jagan Mohan Reddy on November 1

Says YSRC chief misleading people over sensitive issue of Formation Day
Rajahmundry: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for kicking up a row over AP Formation Day celebration.
Addressing people at during the Janamabhoomi Ma Vooru programme at Doddipatla village in Yelamanchali mandal of West Godavari on Saturday, he said nobody should misinterpret history.
Mr Naidu said that the Andhra state was formed on October 1, 1953, after Potti Sriramulu, the great humanitarian and Gandhian, undertook an epic fast and sacrificed his life on December 16, 1952. Later, Andhra Pradesh was formed on November 1, 1956.
He said that November 1 is officially celebrated as the State Formation Day since then. As the Congress led UPA government bifurcated the state on June 2, 2014, creating a separate Telangana state the residuary state of AP with 13 districts, it would be appropriate to celebrate the Formation Day of AP on June 2.
In an oblique reference to Mr Jagan Reddy, the CM blamed him for trying to create confusion and mislead the people on such a sensitive issue.
Mr Naidu also criticised TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for creating a controversy on the sharing of the Krishna waters. He said, “I informed the TS CM to settle the issue amicably, but there has been no response from him so far. Though AP is supposed to get funds from TS on several heads, they are not being settled at present.”
Anyway, we have the support of the BJP-led NDA at the Centre and we are confident of getting more funds
from the Centre and take up developmental works in AP."
Nellore MP pushes for Nov. 1 as formation day:
Nellore Member of Parliament Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy has advised the government to observe State Formation day on November 1, as is the practice, while referring to the sacrifice made by Sri Potti Sriramulu for a separate state for Telugu speaking people.
Speaking to media persons after paying his respects at the statue of Potti Sriramulu statue near Atmakur bus stand here on Saturday, he asserted that observing November 1 as State Formation day is the real tribute to Sri Potti Sriramulu.
He also mentioned that only Telangana State was separated from AP, and so they can observe June 2 as their State Formation day.
ZP Chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy, YSRC District President Nallapareddy Prasannakumar Reddy, Nellore City and Rural legislators Dr Anilkumar Yadav and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy were present with the MP.
Date change opposed by YSRC:
YSR Congress chief and Opposition leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, criticised the decision of the ruling Telugu Desam government to change the historic date of State Formation to June 2 without a valid reason.
Despite the AP government’s decision to celebrate State Formation day on June 2 instead of November 1, the YSRCP celebrated State Formation day on Saturday at the party headquarters.
Mr Jagan Reddy said, “It is logical for Telangana State to observe June 2 as State Formation day. But AP remains the same state which came into being on November 1. He also advised CM N. Chandrababu Naidu to stick to the original State Formation date.
Participating in the celebrations Jagan said “Due respect should be given to historic facts and Andhra Pradesh along with other states was formed on 1st November on linguistic basis. I see no reason as to why AP CM Chandrababu Naidu should shift the date to 2nd June.”
Mr Jagan Reddy said, “It is logical for Telangana State to observe June 2 as State Formation day. But AP remains the same state which came into being on November 1.
He said giving due respect to the sentiments of Telugu people that the YSRCP celebrated the day as they revere history and great people who made the state of Andhra Pradesh a reality.
He said that Chandrababu should change his mindset and stick to the original date of state formation or else they will revert to the date of 1st November as the state formation day after coming to power.
Jagan said “ It is logical for Telangana to observe 2nd June as state formation day as it was the 29th state formed on that date while Andhra Pradesh remains the same which has come into being on 1st November.”
