Telangana: KCR plans a ‘coup’ on Hyderabad Army areas
CM to discuss plan with defence ministry
Hyderabad: Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao is toying with the idea of requesting the defence ministry to shift military installations in Secun-derabad Cantonment and other parts of Hyderabad to neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.
The government plans to submit a proposal to the defence ministry offering land and infrastructure to house a new cantonment at one place as against multiple installations in the heart of Hyderabad.
It may not seek a shift of the Hakimpet or Dundi-gal defence airports, which are quite far from the city, but core installations and units in the heart of Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam and other areas. The move is manifold. It will bring all defence units at one secure place instead of multiple places, ensure high security, decongest the city and help the state government in utilising prime land for state purposes.
