Youth committed suicide, say Kovai police
Autopsy report claimed that it was a case of self-immolation and not murder
Coimbatore: The young man who was found charred inside an abandoned building on Brooke Bond road had suffered only burn injuries and not any stab injuries, the post-mortem report confirmed on Saturday.
The autopsy report strengthened the police claims that it was case of self-immolation and not murder. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The R.S. Puram police said this was a clear indication that the man was alive when he was set on fire and had not been beaten to death.
The police had initially thought they would be able to trace the man through CCTV footage at a shop on Cross Cut Road where he had purchased a five litre can. However, the police said they have been unsuccessful in getting a clear view of his face. The police are investigating the incident further.
