A hero in the making
The moment we enter MVP Colony, the road that leads to political heavyweight state HRD minister, Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s house, huge posters of his son Ganta Ravi Teja greet you. The 25-year-old says politics can wait and is all set to enter Tollywood. And during the course of the conversation, it became clear that Ravi Teja was determined to make Vizag Tollywood’s next destination.
A student of method acting from University of Southern California, Ravi Teja is gearing up for his debut this December. “Though I was always passionate about cinema, my mom ignited it. It’s her dream to see me on the silver screen as a hero. Even when my dad was against the idea of me getting into films, mom supported me,” says Ravi Teja, who also has a Master's degree in Business Administration from the same US varsity.
After being trained by L. Satyanand, who has trained the likes of Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas and NTR Jr, and his stint at California, Ravi Teja spent more than two years listening to scripts — keen that he should enter the industry with a bang.
“I am looking for a family-oriented storyline and also a story where I can exhibit all of my talents. I have heard scripts narrated by Tanikella Bharani, Bharavi and Mahadev, who has worked with ace director Rajamouli, and will finalise one film by next month,” he says. Ravi Teja also met leading actors like Nagarjuna, Pawan Kalyan, and Ram Charan to take tips.
Inspired by the style and the journey of Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, who stands tall at 6’2”, adds, “Prabhas is also my role model.”
Making sure his entry into the film industry is all smooth sailing he has also declared that he does not want to be a burden on producers. “A lot of films have been shelved or halted because of actors’ demands. But, I want to be this actor who would work with producers and share his ideas rather than forcing them on producers. I want to be the actor who every producer would want to work with.”
