Though Microsoft discontinues Windows 7 pre-installs, will continue support
Windows 7, which has been one of the most popular operating system, has reached another milepost, which also may be the last one! Microsoft, on Friday, discontinued the sales of personal computers running on Windows 7 Home Basics, Windows 7 Home Premium, and Windows 7 Ultimate. However, Windows 7 Professional will continue to be available for OEMs.
The company will no longer provide Windows 7 licenses to install on new computers, which will result in all companies to switch to the newer operating system. However, Microsoft will continue to offer support for Windows 7. Mainstream support for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 will continue to be offered until January 13, 2015, while extended support is guaranteed until January 14, 2020.
