TNCC revolt may lead to Moopanar party revival

Vasan with his loyalists may break away from the Congress and revive his Tamil Maanila Congress
Chennai: Is this the beginning of a TNCC revolt against the AICC? It seems so as the most influential man in the state Congress, former Union minister G.K. Vasan, has come out openly supporting the charge made by his lieutenant Gnanadesikan on Friday that the Congress high command “never bothered about the state party unit”.
There has been speculation for quite some time now that Vasan with his loyalists may break away from the Congress and revive his Tamil Maanila Congress as he is piqued by his archrival P. Chidambaram getting closer access to the party high command, read the Gandhi family while he (Vasan) could not even get the PCC posts filled. The Vasan faction claims to have the major chunk of the famished Congress in the Dravidian state.
Mr Gnanadesikan called a press conference and lambasted the party high command for its callous attitude towards the state unit and its president. Turning his guns on Chidambaram, he said the former finance minister did not attend “even a single meeting called by me at the Satyamurthy Bhavan (TNCC headquarters) whereas he conducted meetings of his followers”. The high command “did not pull him up”, Gnanadesikan said.
