Time to Cut and Rum

All those with a sweet-tooth have plenty to choose from in the dessert section

It’s time to down the hatch, matey! You only need to go as far as Koramangala to drink like a sailor! My Bar, the newest casual dining restaurant and bar in the city, is built like a ship’s cabin, complete with rustic furniture, wooden paneling and oversized windows.

We looked through the extensive bar menu, full of cocktails with quirky names like ‘Amasutra’ and ‘'Bow Chicka Wow Wow.’ The Amasutra is a must-try, made with sweet lime, aam panna and lime juice, spiked with vodka.

The Bow Chicka Wow Wow is a great drink to kick back with after a long day it’s a mix of cucumber, orange juice and vodka. Our personal favourite, though, was the Forty Rita, a tangy, shaken cocktail made with kokum and ginger.

The well-crafted menu came as a surprise, for we went expecting the regular gastro-pub fare. Again, it was full of quirky little phrases, including Switchcraft and Witchcraft – the two sandwich sections.

You can also try the Molten Cheesy Tots, Shakarkhand Chaat, Coorgi Pork, Kheema Pav and the Hunan Lamb, which left us feeling pleasantly satiated. As if all this isn’t enough, it’s easy on the pocket, too, with prices ranging from Rs 175 to Rs 275.

The Coorgi pork was easily the best dish of the day tender, succulent meat cooked in spicy sauce. Vegetarians should try the Kurkure Bhindi, which crackles and melts in the mouth. The Vegetable Fajita and Mumbai Vada Pav were also scrumptious. The beer-battered fish ‘n’ chips don’t disappoint either!

All those with a sweet-tooth have plenty to choose from in the dessert section. Try the mudpot or the chocolate ‘burger with shake’ if you have a thing for chocolate. The Mud Pot is sinful and large enough for four.

My Bar is the latest offering from Siddharth Poojari – the same man who gave Bengaluru the sleek City Bar and The Glasshouse. “With My Bar, we want to create a space where one can come and unwind without having to dress up, where the music ranges from rock to retro. The food is both comforting and innovative, with an added twist for a complete dining experience.”
