RSS faults Andhra Pradesh land acquisition
Hyderabad: RSS mouthpiece Jagruthi has come out with a strong article against the manner in which the AP government, in which its political outfit the BJP is also a member, has been proceeding to acquire land for a new capital near Vijayawada.
“We suspect that the government is trying to safeguard the interests of the land mafia. The committee set up by Mr Naidu is full of industrialists rather than political leaders and experts who has day to day contact with the public,” the article stated. It added, “There is also no clarity on why Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakh crore is needed for the capital as being said by Mr Naidu.”
It also objected to the manner in which ministers and members of the capital city advisory panel were trying to intimidate farmers in the capital region. It suggested that instead of acquiring lands from farmers it would have been appropriate if the government constructed the capital on its own lands.
It warned the government that it would soon face serious opposition from farmers against its moves to acquire lands forcibly from them. It also said when Gandhinagar and Naya Raipur were confined to just 3000 or 4000 acres it is not understandable why AP needs much more.
