Merchant ship that hit INS Kora flew German flag
The merchant ship carries a Marshal Islands flag, and sailed from Chittagong two days ago
Visakhapatnam: INS Kora (P61) that hit a merchant vessel approximately 300 nautical miles off Vizag coast on Friday is the lead ship of her class of four corvettes. It was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers for the Indian Navy and has been in service since August 1998. Kora-class corvettes are 1,350-ton guided-missile corvettes.
The merchant ship is owned by Rickmers group of Germany and carries a Marshal Islands flag. The ship had sailed from Chittagong two days ago.
