Karimnagar: An ancient idol was found while executing drainage works in the Eligaid mandal headquarters on Friday. Local residents believe the idol is of Goddess Bhoodevi (Goddess of land). They offered special prayers to the Goddess.
According to villagers, the idol was found by the workers who were digging trenches to lay the drainage pipelines at the town bus-stand. The workers informed residents of the village, who in turn gathered at the site.
Some residents, including elected representatives, performed the special prayers to the goddess. Elderly villagers said the idol was worshiped in the village a few decades ago.
