Project Ara is a concept smartphone, which is finally taking the shape of reality. The smartphone is Android-based and is completely modular. With Project Ara, you can simply upgrade any part of your phone rather than replacing the entire handset. For example, if you need to upgrade just the speaker, battery or processor, all you need to do is simply purchase a respective upgrade module and slip it in. Voila! Your smartphone is now better than before.
Project Ara is backed by Google and developed by Phone Blocks. In the video below, they have demonstrated a working smartphone and how one can upgrade the components, which is as simple as Lego.
