Google building magnetic pills to detect, destroy cancer

Google researchers aims to build nanoparticles that possess the ability to detect any disease

Melbourne: Google is reportedly working on tiny magnetic pills that will detect and destroy cancer and other diseases plaguing the human body.

Andrew Conrad, Google X research lab's head of Life Sciences says that the goal is to build nanoparticles that possess the ability to detect any disease.

According to News.com.au, the pills would be filled with tiny iron-oxide nanoparticles that would be injected into the blood or perhaps swallowed and attracted to tumour cells that give off biochemical signals.

The report suggests that these magnetic nanoparticles will work with a wearable device to treat the cells affected by diseases.

The particles will work by tagging the sick cells, which would then be magnetically drawn towards the wearable device where they will be treated, the report added.
