Mediciti hospital attacked
The baby’s family held Mediciti responsible for his death
Hyderabad: Mild tension gripped Mediciti hospital when the family of a dead infant staged a protest alleging medical negligence and damaged furniture. However, no formal complaint was lodged by the baby's family. The cops booked a case against the family after a complaint by the hospital authorities.
The incident occurred at the Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences in the Ghanpur iillage of Medchal mandal on Thursday.
The couple Shyamala and Praveen, both labourers and residents of Kistapur in Toopran of Medak district came to the city on October 25 for Shyamala's delivery. She was admitted at the hospital and delivered a boy.
Police said Mediciti doctors said the baby had a chronic illness and advised the parents to take him to Niloufer, a children's hospital. The couple got him admitted on October 26 and he died while under treatment on Wednesday. The baby’s family held Mediciti responsible for his death.
“Alleging that negligence by the doctors at Mediciti hospital led to their child’s death the parents and relatives staged a protest at the hospital. They damaged furniture too,” said inspector K. Shashank Reddy of Medchal.
Cops reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, they said the victim’s family didn’t lodge any complaint against the hospital, but the hospital which denied the allegations lodged a complaint.
“Based on the hospital’s complaint a case was booked against the attackers for trespass, damaging furniture and threatening. It’s being investigated,” Mr Shashank said. Officials said nobody has been arrested.
