Hyderabad High Court reserves verdict on Junior doctors stir

There was no provision which can prevent doctors from going on strike
Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday reserved its orders on a plea seeking declaration of the junior doctors strike as illegal.
While reserving the verdict, Justice Sengupta observed that “We thought of rescuing junior doctors and our intention is not to throw them into darkness, but by not withdrawing the strike they invited us to pass the order in accordance with law.”
Senior counsel appearing for the junior doctors submitted that there was no provision in the law which can prevent the junior doctors from going on strike.
Reacting to the submission of counsel for the junior doctors that his clients have decided to continue their strike, Justice Sengupta recalled services of Dr B.C. Roy, second chief minister of West Bengal. Dr. Roy used to dedicate time for poor patients in spite of his busy schedule as chief minister. In the present days such dedication is lacking.
