No total ban on flex boards

Decision after getting feedback from those engaged in industry

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Under pressure from the flex board industry, UDF constituents and workers unions , the Government on Wednesday decided to to withdraw its earlier decision to impose a total ban on flex boards.
At the Cabinet briefing, the chief minister said that the decision was taken following the recommendations submitted by ministerial sub- committee. The cabinet subcommittee arrived at the decision after getting feedback the people engaged in flex board industry sector and workers employed in the sector.
The use of flex boards which cause environmental pollution and adversely affect public health would be curtailed sternly. The following restrictions have been imposed on use of flex; Display of flex boards for advertisement purpose would not be allowed without legal permission, local bodies will initiate steps to remove illegally installed flex boards.
There will be a total ban on use of flex boards for government advertisements and in official functions. The directive would be applicable to all government departments.
Flex boards will allowed in public places only with special permission and those creating any obstruction to drivers would be removed.
While granting permission, local bodies will have to ensure that the following details are mentioned on the flex boards; the period for which flex boards have been allowed, applicants name and license number.
