Criminals run Telangana, Andhra Pradesh?
Many representatives face murder, rioting, other charges
Hyderabad: Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh are moving neck to neck as far as criminal cases booked against elected municipal representatives are concerned. After the municipal elections in March 2014, the total cases booked across Telangana on mayors, deputy mayors and ZP chairpersons were 18, while Seemandhra reported 16 cases.
The cases range from attempt to murder, rioting and for accepting bribes. Most of the elected members had been rowdy sheeters in the past with more than two pending criminal cases.
In Telangana State, the TRS’ municipal heads have the highest number of criminal cases, followed by the BJP, Congress and Telugu Desam. In Seemandhra, Telugu Desam leads with 11 followed by YSR Congress with 5.
