Cotton Corporation of India officials told to Pay farmers in a week
Joint collector asked the CCI officials to lift the produce without imposing undue conditions
Khammam: The Cotton Corporation of India officials have been told to pay the farmers for their produce within a week. Joint collector Surendra Mohan, who visited the agricultural market and enquired about the arrival of cotton, its quality and prices, from manager Chaturvedi and assistant manager Solanki of CCI, asked the CCI officials to lift the produce without imposing undue conditions.
Later, he inspected the lifting of cotton by private operators from the farmers. Mr Mohan told the farmers to make use of the CCI to get a better price for their produce. "The farmers should follow the norms in bringing the cotton to get a good price," he said.
At the beginning of the buying season, the CCI officials did not lift stocks saying there was more moisture content in the cotton. The officials said they would offer much less than the '4,100 pe quintal MSP decided by the Centre in the name of more moisture content to which the farmers disagreed. However, the next days, cotton stocks were bought by private traders who offered nothing more than that said by the CCI officials.
