AP’s 24x7 power promise lures industrialists of Telangana
Vijayawada: Several industrialists are looking at the possiblity of setting up their units in AP with the prevailing industry-friendly atmosphere and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s assurance of 24x7 power.
Some of the industrialists of Andhra region who set up industries at Hyderabad, have also started enquiries with the industries department and local industrialists, an indication that they are thinking of shifting to AP due to the power crisis in Telangana.
Industrial Area Local Authority chairman V. Ramesh Babu said about 30 to 40 per cent industrialists of Hyderabad were ready to shift their units to AP. He said the industrialists of Andhra origin have started enquiries with their counterparts here over the feasibility of such a move.
Mr Ramesh Babu said that taking the increasing demand into consideration, the state government should allot land in upland areas to industrialists to encourage industrial growth. He said the industrialists are also expecting subsidies in case the state gets the special status.
He saw vast scope for growth in the automobile sector, foundries and structural equipment.
Giving support to the stand of industrialists, District Industries Centre general manager G. Rajendraprasad said that there is an increase in the number of enquiries from industrialists of Hyderabad and other regions. “The number of enquiries jumped from 40 to 80 in the past one month, especially after the state government’s industry -friendly policy emerged,” Mr Rajendraprasad said.
IALA president V.V, Neeraj Kumar said that the state government should encourage industrialists by providing facilities on par with Tamil Nadu and Gujarat governments.
The industrialists opined that the ITI colleges should be linked to the local industries for skill development to generate industry-ready manpower.
