Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s quest for perfection continues in Bajirao Mastani

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned to achieve perfection in his next project Bajirao Mastani. He and his team are making sure nobody compromises on quality. Brand SLB has become synonymous with grand costume dramas like Devdas and Ram Leela, so needless to say Bajirao Mastani has to live up to the standards he has set for himself.
Word is that the filmmaker had an SOS meeting with designer Anju Modi and team to discuss the themes and colours of the costumes for the film. “Sanjay wanted some changes in the costumes. He had already briefed the team to adhere to the traditional Maharashtrian backdrop. Since clothes play a vital role in a period film, he has asked the team to rework on certain clothes and accessories,” says a unit member. We hear SLB has already rejected a few costumes.
The director has a certain look in mind for his leading ladies Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra and the meeting was to ensure that quality is maintained across departments.
According to close sources, Bhansali has roped in yet another team of young stylists that’ll help him achieve perfection in the desired look of the film. According to a few unit members the costly designer costumes will hike the estimated budget. But neither Sanjay nor the creative team is complaining about the expenses. “Sanjay has always believed in quality and budgets are never an issue,” says a source close to the filmmaker.
