Eknath Khadse held CM hopes till the end
Mumbai: A strong aspirant for the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, an upset Eknath Khadse remained absent from the party meeting on Tuesday morning.
He was in the race for the CM’s post. But, Devendra Fadnavis’ name was almost finalised on Monday by the national leader of the party.
Even after that, on Monday and later on Tuesday morning, Mr Khadse confirmed that he was still in the race for the post.
“The leader is not yet selected and I have hopes that the party will do justice to me,” said Mr Khadse on Tuesday morning before the meeting of legislators.
However, the BJP’s state in-charge, Rajeev Pratap Rudy, had succeeded in convincing him to attend the meeting to select the legislative party leader. But, the party kept the suspense over the assurance given to Mr Khadse.
