Congress playing drama, says KTR
Rama Rao blamed the Congress for farmers' suicides, power crisis
Hyderabad: Minister for IT and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao said the Congress leaders were playing dramas over farmers’ suicides, power crisis and other issues in Telangana. Mr Rama Rao blamed the Congress for farmers' suicides, power crisis and other ills plaguing the state.
Launching a scathing attack on former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy for his criticism against the TRS government and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr Rama Rao said why the former Union minister could not provide gas to power plants in the state.
“Mr Jaipal Reddy said the Telangana government lacked foresight. Why did he not ensure gas supply to power projects as Union petroleum minister? If he had foresight, he would not have been rejected by the Mahbubnagar electorate,” he said.
He also criticised TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former minister D.K. Aruna and other leaders for toeing the Andhra Pradesh line and ignoring the interests of Telangana when they were in power.
In an open letter to the Congress leaders, Mr Rama Rao blamed the Congress for neglecting Telangana during its long tenure including YSR’s 10-year rule.
“It’s sickening to hear the Congress leaders talk about farmers suicides. It's like a murderer holding a condolence meeting. Can there be anything worse than this? Is it not D.K. Aruna who welcomed leaders with harathi to the opening of the illegal Handri Niva project?” Mr Rama Rao asked.
Did they not turn a blind eye when the Congress government raised the withdrawal level at Srisailam?” he asked.
Mr Rama Rao said the Congress which had ruled the state for 40 years and ignored its power needs was now blaming the four-month old TRS government for power shortage.
He said the Congress leaders talking about farmers and the power crisis was like Veerappan seeking protection of sandalwood trees.
Describing the Congress leaders as traitors for being silent on AP government illegally drawing Telangana's share of water and power, Mr Rama Rao said the TRS government unlike other governments had sincerely accepted the power shortage and had announced a roadmap to set up new power units.
“We have begun fulfilling our promises and we will fulfil all of them. The Opposition should extend support to the government so that we can help farmers or else the people will teach them a lesson,” he said.
