BJP to Umesh Katti: Stop your separatist talk
Bengaluru: Leaders of the state unit of BJP have decided to haul former minister Umesh Katti over the coals for repeatedly demanding a separate statehood for north Karnataka.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, president of the state unit of BJP Pralhad Joshi said as Mr. Katti’s views were contrary to that of the party, the leaders have taken a decision to warn him not to reiterate his demand for a separate statehood.
When asked by action was not initiated against Mr. Katti for his stand on a separate statehood for north Karnataka, Mr. Joshi said next week the former minister would be summoned and told not to air such demands during a meeting of the core committee.
“If Mr. Katti repeats such statements in future, the party will definitely take a call and initiate necessary action against him. Before doing that, we will advise him not to air views in support of a separate statehood.
If Mr. Katti wants to fight for justice for north Karnataka and demand more developmental schemes, the party is ready to give leadership to him to fight for that cause,” he added. Mr. Joshi said party vice president B.S.Yeddyurappa will advise Mr. Katti not to air such statements.
