30000 VIPs to attend new Maharashtra CM’s oath taking

The MLAs from all the parties in the state would also be invited

MUMBAI: The first-ever BJP government’s swearing-in ceremony on October 31 is going to be a grand show with over 30,000 VIPs across the country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the event at Wankhede stadium.

The ceremony is slated to have an entertainment programme for the first time. The VIPs will include Bollywood celebrities, industrialists, CMs of all BJP-ruled states, leaders of Opposition of non-BJP ruled states, all Consul Gen-erals, judges, IAS and IPS officers. The MLAs from all the parties in the state would also be invited.

Oath taking ceremony is otherwise performed at Raj Bhavan on a small scale. The earlier Shiv Sena and BJP government had conducted the ceremony in 1995 at Shivaji Park ground.

“There are over 30,000 invitations, which will be sent to all the VIPs and dignitaries on October 29. This time all the Consul Generals in Mumbai would also be invited for the ceremony,” an official from the protocol department said.

The main oath-taking ceremony will last an hour, as a few ministers would be inducted in the Cabinet al-ong with Devendra Fadnavis. But the entire show will last three hours.
