10 days later, missing city doctor found dead
Guntur: The body of a doctor, who had been missing since October 18, was on Tuesday, found in the Krishna Western Delta canal at Duggirala. Kosaraju Jayachandran, an endocrinologist working at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad had disappeared while he was on his way to Tenali on October 18.
The Tenali police had retrieved his car from the canal on Monday. Police, led by Tenali DSP T.P. Vithaleswar, continued searching on Tuesday morning in the canal and found the body two km away from where the car was found. The body was identified by his family.
Mr Vithaleswar said that Jayachandran’s car may have plunged into the canal after hitting the divider on the Vijayawada-Tenali road at Duggirala. He said the car and divider had been damaged.
The DSP said that the doors of the car were found open, indicating that Jayachandran might have tried to come out but was washed away and his body got stuck in the mud.
His family members, who had earlier suspected something amiss about his disappearance, were satisfied by the police’s deductions.
