Kochi Mayor to lead cleaning drive from November 1 to 14

The Mayor will pick up the broom to clean his office premises
Kochi: Inspired by the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany and the civic administration will carry out a two-week-long cleanliness drive in the city from November 1 to 14.
Launching the drive, the Mayor will pick up the broom to clean his office premises along with his colleagues at the corporation office, including the deputy mayor, standing committee chairpersons, opposition leader, department heads and senior officials. Meanwhile, councillors will clean the corporation circle offices and zonal offices.
The Mayor has urged the residents’ associations to join hands with the civic administration to clean public places. A meeting of residents associations within the city will be convened on Tuesday to discuss the cleaning drive.
The cleaning drive follows the civic administration’s recent initiative to remove unauthorised flex boards erected in various parts of the city. Through his blog, Mr. Chammany has made it clear that all illegal flex boards, including that of political parties and religious organisations, would be removed.
