Power deficit to continue falling in Telangana

The two-day power holiday in the industrial sector might be reduced to one
Hyderabad: Power demand from the agricultural sector dropped from 2000 MW to 900 MW over the weekend and will drop further over the week, taking the pressure off other sectors.
In most areas, power utilities have reduced scheduled cuts, barring a few where high local demand persists. The power cuts to the domestic sector are likely to be rolled back officially within 10 to 15 days. The two-day power holiday in the industrial sector might be reduced to one.
“While most areas have benefited, a few areas might have seen longer cuts depending on local requirements or emergencies but we have partially rolled back cuts to all sectors except industry. In over a week’s time the situation will be much better with another 500 MW of agricultural requirement coming down,” said a senior official.
The current deficit of 12-15 million units per day is expected to go down with completion of the Kharif season.
The demand from the industrial sector is nearly 3000 MW. But the sector will continue to see cuts till 500 MW of power assured by the Centre flows in.
