37% deficit rainfall in Kurnool this month

Inspite of torrential rainfall there is deficit of rainfall in Kurnool
kurnool: Even after yesterday’s torrential downpour in Kurnool town and other parts of the district, there is still a deficit of minus 37 per cent rainfall in Kurnool district in October this year compared to last year.It rained 147.1 mm in October last year with 28 per cent positive deviation whereas it is only 72.1 mm this October. Except Mahanandi, C Belgal, Nandyal and all other mandals recorded deficit rainfall ranging from -1 to -92 per cent.
It normally rains 6,181.6 mm in October month, but this October it only rained 3,895.2 mm. Mahanandi mandal recorded highest rainfall till now in October with 138.6 mm.
In all 54 mandals in Kurnool district, it rained 915.4 mm from October 1 to October 20. From October 21 to 24, it rained 137.4 mm. On October 25 alone, it rained 2,687.2 mm. South West mo-nsoon brought 547.3 mm rainfall from June 2013 to September 2013; normally it ranges around 455 mm rainfall.
North East Monsoon was also near normal from Oct-ober to December last year at 147.8 mm rainfall. In 2014, from June to September, the deficit was -1 per cent in the South West Monsoon. It rained 451.8 mm, normally it is 455.1 mm. However the deficit is -37 per cent in North East Monsoon with only 72.1 mm rainfall in October this year.
In the wake of the downpour on October 25, R&B Deputy Engineer Sridhar Reddy who oversees Kur-nool Subdivision said, “There is no major damage, no breach of road. Some overflowing of water happened on the causeways between Midthur and Orvakallu.
