Tense moments near Orchids The International School

The parents were protesting against the management decision not to restart classes VI and VII

Bengaluru: Orchids, The International School, Jalahalli campus witnessed some tense moments on Sunday as hundreds of parents tried to hold a protest demanding restarting of all classes from Monday.

But police stopped them from protesting, saying they had not taken prior permission. The parents told reporters that they had decided not to send their children to school on Monday.

A meeting has been scheduled between the parents and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar for Wednesday.

On Saturday evening, a meeting between the parents, school management and Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi had decided to restart classes from first to fifth standards from Monday. But DPI officials made it clear that they will not allow the school management to restart the classes till the issue of recognition is not resolved.

The parents were protesting against the management decision not to restart classes VI and VII.

“We will not send our children to the school till a decision is taken on restarting of all the classes. We want action against the management, and the government should protect the interest of students,” the parents said.

Tight security
The Jalahalli police maintained tight security near the school even on Sunday. Sources said that the school authorities have directed all the staff to report for duty on Monday as per the decision taken at the Saturday's meeting.
