RajKumar Hirani converts basement of his residence into an editing studio

Mumbai: The editing and dubbing of this year’s big Christmas release PK starring Aamir, Anushka and Sushant is going on in full swing. Like all his other films, this time too director Rajkumar Hirani has taken on the mantle of editing, during which he locks himself in the editing room for months together.

For his earlier films, he used the facility at Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s office in Santacruz. But this time round he has converted the basement of his Goregaon bungalow into an editing and dubbing studio.

A source said, “The fire at Pixion studio earlier this year, which was to do the special effects for PK, gave them the shock of their lives. But Raju had a back-up of the footage of the film, so nothing was lost.

He bought this lavish bungalow recently and has modified the basement which has editing and dubbing facilities.” With this, he actually saves time travelling all the way from Goregaon to Santacruz.

A source revealed, “Sometimes, if Raju is in Filmcity, he can immediately resume work at his residence. However, if he is around Santacruz, he resumes work at Vidhu’s office as well. Ditto for Aamir, who while shooting in Filmcity, can easily drop by at Raju’s house and resume dubbing.”

Aamir has made several trips to Raju’s house to sit with him and monitor the development. With this film, Raju also marks his debut as producer with his production house, Rajkumar Hirani films.
