Sack KJ George, says Pralhad Joshi
Belgaum: State BJP president, Pralhad Joshi, has demanded the immediate sacking of home minister, K.J. George, holding him responsible for the rising crime in the state.
Arguing that the rape of a four- year- old in Bengaluru and the attack on an IAS officer in Mysore were symptoms of the collapsing law and order in the state, he charged that the minister had failed in his duty to protect the people.
“Having such a home minister is dangerous for Karnataka. We need to have warning tags on the lines of “smoking is dangerous for health” on cigarette packets, saying “George is dangerous for Karnataka,” displayed across the state,” he quipped, speaking to reporters here on Saturday.
Urging the Siddaramaiah government to remove Mr George immediately, he said the rising lottery and hafta crime were other examples of the home minister’s ineptness. “The appointment of an advisor to the home minister has left everyone confused as to who is the real boss in the home department,” he maintained.
Targeting energy minister, D.K. Shivakumar as well, he claimed he had turned Karnataka into a virtually “powerless” state with the power crisis worsening over the last few months.
Mr Joshi said the state BJP unit would hold its core committee meeting on October 28 and 29 in Bengaluru to plan a series of protests to force the government to make better use of Belgaum’s Suvarna Vidhan Soudha and take a decision on conducting the winter session of the state legislature there every year.
“The Chief Minister should hold discussions with all party leaders and experts to make use of the soudha more effectively,” he added.
