Mumbai: With many filmstars investing in sports teams these days, why should Deepika Padukone be an exception?
Her dad Prakash Padukone is a legendary badminton player.
But Deepika has wisely opted out of any investment plans.
She is candid enough to confess, “My father and I don’t have a business sense. I earn the money and he invests it for me, but we have zero knowledge of business… From a sports point of view, I can promote a team, I can be the brand ambassador and talk about sports and grab eyeballs. I am a part of the Olympic Gold Quest and we are funding that. This quest is to support and train athletes for gold medals.”
We think this is a laudable effort. After all, like Deepika adds, “We are able to promote sports which are not popular. Abhishek is promoting kabaddi and soccer. So many biopics are being made on athletes. We have to write about young upcoming sportspersons so that they are known and awareness is created.”
