More connectivity to Bangalore from Nedumbassery, service to Goa soon

Dubai is the favourite city which will have 45 flights weekly

Kochi: Discussions are on betw-een Cochin International Airport Limited and the newly introduced Air Pegasus to operate services to Chennai and Bangalore from Cochin international airport. CIAL is also in dialogue with Air India and Air Asia India to commence direct flight services to Goa.

Releasing the winter schedule of the airport which will be effective from October 26 to March 28, 2015, an official said that as per the schedule, the airport will facilitate movement of 479 aircraft in the international sector and 599 aircraft in the domestic sector bringing the overall operations per week to 1078.

“As many as 23 airlines are now operating from Kochi. Many of them have increased frequency, the effect of which is more visible in the domestic sector where the total aircraft service has been raised from 533 to 599. This will go further up with the commencement of operations of Air Pegasus to Bangalore and Chennai and the introduction of new sectors by Air India and Air Asia India. The new schedule indicates that Bangalore is the most frequented city to which there will be 89 aircraft movements from Kochi a week. Mondays and Wednesdays will have 14 operations each to the city. Mumbai comes second with 72 flights. A total of 48 flight services are scheduled for Chennai and 38 to Delhi,” said the official.

There will be 479 aircraft services in the international sector. Dubai is the favourite city which will have 45 flights weekly. Malindo Air will be operating additional flight from Kuala Lumpur from November 1 to January 31, 2015 in view of the Sabarimala season. Saudi Arabian Airlines has also increased the frequency of operation from five days a week to six.
