Thiruvananthapuram: Vice-Chancellors in the state have begun to fear for their lives and are planning to ask Governor P.Sathasivam to provide them with gunman protection.
This is following the recent turmoil in various universities of the state. Sources said that the decision to approach the Governor was taken at an informal discussion among vice-chancellors on Wednesday.
The final draft of the demands, including the above, would be charted at a meeting of vice-chancellors to be held on October 26 ahead of the conference called by the Governor, the chancellor of universities, on October 27.
Another demand is to give more powers to the vice-chancellors on appointment of syndicate members.
