The tribals have started resisting the Maoists, says AP Minister
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa on Wednesday said that the TD government, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, has been successful in curbing the Maoists activities in the state.
“People have the courage to revolt against the Maoists only when the government is strong. The TD government is strong. The tribals have started resisting the Maoists, who are now threatened in AP,” said Mr Chinarajappa referring to recent incident in Visakha agency area.
On safety of women, he said a call centre will shortly be opened in Rajahmundry to help women in distress. One call centre has already been opened in Vijayawada, he said.
Regarding firecrackers’ shops, he said proper instructions have been issued to the police department to cancel the licences of shops which have not taken safety precautions. The shops which have not taken licences at all will be closed down. “We will book cases against the offenders,” said Mr Chinarajappa.
