Malayali lost 40-yrs ago in Dubai found

Though he longs to return, kin do not want him
THRISSUR: His family “lost” him 40 years ago. But he turned up quite suddenly in a Dubai hospital ailing and living on shreds of fond memories of a home and dear ones he had left four decades ago.
Thrissur-born Baputty, 68, is no modern day Robinson Crusoe. While Crusoe was very much aware of his lost status and the passage of each day, Baputty’s mind is in a state of flux. His story, now doing the rounds on social media sites, is a mystery that may never be solved.
Baputty’s nephew identified him the other day. His parents are no more and his home on the banks of Kanoli canal was sold. The harsh reality is that neither his sister nor his brother now want him back, though he longs for home.
“He left us about 40 years ago and that was the last we saw or heard from him”, says Moosammad, Baputty’s brother. “Our father and mother waited for years for a letter from him. After they died, we lost our ancestral home in Chavakkad”, he said. Moosammad now lives in Punnayur.
“Our sister Aminakkutty also lives quite close. But both of us now live on the largesse of our children. How can we expect them to take care of an absconding “Valyuppa”?, saks Moosammad.
